ENGINEERING DESIGN SURVEYING
An upgrade or renewal of an existing OLE system requires an Engineering Design Survey which provides with the existing site features and conditions, such as height and stagger, running edge to face of structure (REFOS) and other vital input information that is required for Project Design.
tCat produces most of the information and documentation required for OLE Engineering Design saving hundreds of hours on field survey and engineering design.
Upon completion of an OLE project, a collection of drawings is handed over to the client. As-built drawings show the geometry of the contact line and other key features of the project such as critical cross sections. The drawings are usually prepared by Engineers based on data captured by field Engineers and checked by the Quality function. These human interfaces may lead to inaccuracies in the documentation submitted to the client.
tCat generates as-built documentation for OLE projects saving hundreds of hours on field survey and engineering design.
CONTROL OF MINIMAL ELECTRICAL CLEARANCES
Before an OLE system is commissioned it must be demonstrated that the system complies with the relevant legislation including electrical clearances dimensions.
tCat is an efficient tool for measuring many electrical clearance distances avoiding the use of a high-rail platform as well as a reliable one providing sound evidence of compliance through a laser point-cloud.
The electrification of an existing non-electrified railway line often poses a challenge to Project Design because of unavailable documentation related to old tunnels and bridges which usually don´t meet the clearances dimensions required for the installation of the OLE system.
tCat produces as-built tunnel section profiles which can be used by OLE Engineers to define tunnel clearance requirements to Civil/Track Engineers and as an input to OLE design.
Maintaining the position of track relative to infrastructure to achieve gauge compatibility with rolling stock and their loads ensures safe passage through bridges, tunnels and other structure.
tCat can be used as a fast and flexible tool to check clearance compliance.
Monitoring trees and plants along the railway is a key component of vegetation management which is essential to ensure the safety of passengers and railway workers.
tCat can be used as a fast and flexible tool to check a vegetation-free envelope.
